When I first began to write this post, 21 Savage was busy getting deported while all my friends were busy getting lit for their 21st, and I had been busy trying to keep up with it all. (So busy that I didn't get to publish this earlier). Anyways, this year I really wanted to make sure my friends knew how much they mean to me, so I tried to conjure up the most thoughtful, unique, personalized gifts for each of them. Here's what I came up with:
1. For the friend who is a wine loving, Pedialyte enthusiast, and most of the time the "mom" of the group:
"Oh Sh*t Kit"
(I forgot to take a picture of this so a description will have to do: I filled a small container from target with supplies needed for/after a long night such as Pedialyte, Advil, bandaids, hair ties, make-up remover, a small wine glass, etc.)
2. For the friend who needs more excitement than wine, has the most hood rap music on her playlist, but yet has monogrammed decor:
"DIY Kinda Classy, Kinda Hood Shot Glasses"
For this gift, I purchased a pack of 6 shot glasses from Walmart. I used oil based paint markers to decorate the glasses. For font reference, I typed and printed the words off the computer, placed it on the inside of the glass, and traced it with the marker onto the outside of the glass. 3 of the shot glasses have "Kinda Classy, Kinda Hood" and the other 3 are more personalized for my friend.
3. For the friend who always makes you laugh, keeps you smiling, and is always there for you no matter the distance and time.
"Blackout Blanket"
A couple of friends and I put our funniest pictures together to make what I like to call the "Blackout Blanket" for one of our other besties. We made and ordered this custom blanket through Walmart online. *For privacy purposes, I've covered these photos with emojis*
4. For the sassy friend who can recite her favorite movies and is obsessed with The Office:
"That's What She Said" card game, DIY "Do You Think Doing Alcohol Is Cool" flask
The "That's What She Said" game can be purchased at Target or ordered online from Amazon. I bought a stainless steel flask from Target and used an oil based marker to decorate it with a quote from Dwight. Just as Jim liked to put Dwight's stapler in jello, I really wanted to package these gifts in jello. However, I thought I'd be nice and make it a little easier to unwrap so I tried to mimic the look of a jello encasing instead. I turned the container of an empty Pretzilla Bites case upside down and used a foil pie pan as a base for support on the bottom.
5. For the friend who is extra, collects shot glasses from different places, is a city lover, kitty mother, diet coke addict, with a passion for magazines:
"Sign for her sign night, Dylan's Candy Bar Shot Glass"
Something we do when we turn 21 is host a "sign night" (pregame before going out together in celebration of a friend's birthday) in which our closest friends surprise us with a sign that the birthday guest of honor wears during the night. The sign is personalized to the newly turned 21-year-old and includes 21 tasks on the back.
6. To be continued...
XOXO,
