Reporting to you from off the sidelines! Football season has kicked-off and it's time to review the college game-day style playbook.
College game-day fashion has evolved greatly over the years. In the previous quarters, the outfits have been more laid back/calmer (if that makes any sense). Walking into a tailgate or the stadium today will show you that people have become more creative, spirited, unique, and comfortable in their dressing up for game-days. We've traded basic rompers for festive overalls, dresses for cheer uniforms, t-shirts for custom-designed or custom-made shirts, and purses for clear fanny packs. Since tailgating/going to the games as a college student is the ONLY time that this kind of apparel doesn't deserve a penalty, it's fun to go all out.
For the first home game of the season (and my final first football game as a student), I decided to wear an oversized #1 Gator jersey customized with my name. An easy option and a basic outfit, but a comfortable and cute one. Being able to throw on spandex underneath my jersey and a pair of white crew socks with my Adidas helped me spend less time fumbling around in my closet.
With today's trendier game-day type, it can sometimes become an hour long timeout staring at the "empty" closet you have with "nothing to wear." Sometimes it's true and you don't have anything to wear. The best way to tackle this problem is by accessorizing. When wearing something simple or basic, such as a plain top with your school's colors, go for the extra point and add some type of accessory or even a tattoo or glitter if you're really wanting to get into it. To complete my game-day look, I added a clear "Chomp" fanny pack and blue circular sunnies.
The customized jersey (shown below) is from Fanatics. Fanatics offers jerseys for almost every school. You can choose different colors and customize the back to say whatever you want. The only thing I dislike about this jersey is that I wish the material was more breathable.
Happy Game-day Season and Happy Tailgating!
XOXO,
Alyssa Ashley
